POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for the financial management, planning, regulatory compliance, accounting operations and financial record keeping at TCWC. The Controller oversees the day-to-day financial activities and provides financial analysis and support to Owners and the Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
- Assesses current accounting operations and internal processes and offers recommendations for improvement; Identifies cost savings
- Develops financial policies and processes that meet the needs of the company needs and goals
- Ensures compliance with state and federal tax regulations and industry reporting requirements
- Develops strong controls to manage the flow of accounts payable, receivables, inventory, costs of goods sold, monthly closing of books, general ledger accounting, and other back-office procedures and policies
- Maintains accurate financial “books”; responsible for financial statements, payroll, balance sheets, forecasts, and month/quarter/year end processes and reporting
- Develops metrics to monitor business performance
- Manages and leads the accounting staff; creates a culture of support and professionalism in the accounting department
- Administers the insurance and risk management policies
- Owns the accounting software program and becomes the expert
- Collaborates with the Leadership Team and Owners to educate and enforce accounting policies
- Establishes relationships with banks, suppliers, vendors and customers
- Manages audits, internal and external
- Manages debt and collection
- Understands and can assist with ROI analysis and modeling to assist in business decisions
- Maintains licensing in different states, compliance for different markets, and distributor paperwork and permits
- Provides a proactive and meaningful understanding of the finances of the company and applies that to future analysis
- Makes recommendations to Owners and the Leadership Team to improve processes and plan for future growth based on financial data, trends and best practices
- Assists with preparing the budget and forecasts; monitors and updates as necessary
- Understands the strategic financial goals of the company; has experience in creating a budget
- Understands tax strategies and works to protect company assets
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality of company and employee information
- Observes safety and security procedures

Basic Qualifications/Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (minimum education)
- 5-10+ years of experience in a Senior Accounting or Controller role, manufacturing or distribution experience preferred
- Experience in cost accounting and cost analysis
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Proficient in Google G Suite
- Sage experience preferred
